Solar Eclipse Day (Elwood)

On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will plunge much of Indiana into momentary darkness. Here in Madison County, we will get to experience 100% total darkness for about 3 minutes around 3pm. How awesome! The Elwood Public Library is getting ready for this big and exciting day. Join us from 2-4pm  for a fun afternoon of solar eclipse activities! We will be making edible models of the sun, doing a UV Kid craft, and showing some educational solar eclipse videos before we all watch the eclipse together.* Please bring your own lawn chairs and/or blankets as we will be outside for the duration of this event.

*We will have solar eclipse glasses available (while supplies last) for anyone that needs them during this program. You must use your glasses at the library. We will not be handing them out prior to this event.

Our parking lot will not be available from 1:00pm-4:30pm the day of the eclipse as we will be using the space for the eclipse activities during this time. Alternate parking locations will be available, but space is limited. Parking  will be available at the YMCA, Catalyst Youth Center, and First United Methodist Church.
