How Do I…

Get a library card

There are several ways to obtain a library card depending on where you reside. NMCPLS serves the townships of Pipe Creek, Lafayette (except for a small portion that is part of Anderson Community School District), Duck Creek, Van Buren and Boone in Madison County. Residing in one of these townships and/or owning property in one of these townships entitles you to a library card. To obtain a library card, you will need 2 pieces of identification showing proof of your residence. For patrons under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must sign the child up for a library card, bringing the parent’s 2 proofs of residency, as well as the child’s birth certificate or guardianship papers.

Access my account

Go to the Evergreen Indiana account page (linked here) to login with your library card barcode number and password/PIN that was assigned to you by staff during registration. If you do not remember your password/PIN, please contact us.

Once logged in you can manage your account, search the catalog, see items that you have checked out, place holds for items and more.

Search the Catalog

See the catalog by visiting  Evergreen Indiana (linked here).
You can search by keyword, author, title, item format and more. You can also limit your search to a certain library by selecting it in the Library dropdown menu – our branches’ libraries are listed under North Madison County Public Library System.

Use E-book and E-Audiobooks

You can browse and checkout e-books and e-audiobooks on your computer, phone or tablet by using one or both of our e-book resources:

Libby

Download Libby from the app store on your device. On the app, select North Madison County Public Library as your home library. Then, use your library card and PIN to log in.

Search or browse for the title you’d like to borrow. When you’ve found it, click or touch the title, and then click Borrow. The app will tell you how long you can borrow the item for. Don’t worry – it will automatically return on the due date.

You can borrow unlimited items per month. Read or listen to your item on the app, or download it to your device to enjoy it offline.

Hoopla

Download Hoopla from the app store on your device, or go to hoopladigital.com. Sign up using your e-mail address, and then select North Madison Co Pub Lbry as your home library. Enter your library barcode number, and your PIN.

Search or browse for the title you’d like to borrow. When you’ve found it, click or touch the title, and then click Borrow. Hoopla will tell you how long you can borrow the item for. Don’t worry – it will automatically return on the due date.

You can borrow up to 5 items per month. Read or listen to your item on hoopla, or download it to your device to enjoy it offline.
